In addition to the year by year growth milestones in equipping the factory and launching new products, Savanna has in its short existence won a prestigious award in the Monde selection 2006 Trophies and Awards. The company won a Silver medal for its Pacific Storm brand and a Bronze medal for the Pacific Blue brand at the 2006 Monde Awards: 40th World Selection of Tobacco. The Monde Awards
The Monde selection is an International Institute for Quality selections based in Brussels, Belgium. Its inception was in 1961 in Belgium and since then it has organised competitions for quality held each year in different European cities. The Mission of Monde Selection is defined as quality product selection from international productions, to provide an opportunity for comparison between products of the same kind from varied nations thus establishing a global ranking scale, provide an independent marketing tool for manufacturers, provide an external control on quality for manufacturers and to help manufacturers make their products known and readily recognisable with this Internationally recognised Quality Label. In short, the Monde Selection is a True symbol of International Quality. Savanna Tobacco was one of eight African countries to win the awards in 2006.
In the 40th World Selection of Tobacco, only five companies from four countries had winning entries namely The Savanna Tobacco Company from Zimbabwe with Pacific Blue and Pacific Storm, British American Tobacco Cambodia Limited from Cambodia with the Ara range of cigarettes, Godfrey Philips India Limited with Tipper cigarettes and I.T.C Limited from India and the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation from Taiwan. Therefore, Savanna Tobacco has made an indelible mark on the world map and in the Zimbabwean manufacturing industry. It is achievement enough to be compared with these great brands in all the aforementioned categories but it is an even greater honour to win awards in such quality selections. These awards are a testimony that Savanna, young as it might be, is the producer of high quality products and is set to take on the best in the industry.
